Library Support for Faculty
The Library offers a variety of services to support the instructional effort at Weatherford College. Those services are both in-house and on the College web page. If you have questions regarding the Library's services and programs please contact us.
Academic Support
- The General and Reference Collections - over 62,000 books, Videos, magazines, and newspapers are available to college students, faculty and staff.
- Course-Integrated Library Instruction - Faculty may request a librarian to teach a library session tailored to your course. Instructional sessions are available by appointment basis to introduce students to library research methods. These sessions may cover online resources and the library catalog, magazines and magazine indexes, internet resources and introduce key concepts in using the library. A session may average 45 minutes and are generally limited to 25 students.
- Electronic Databases - The library has access to major periodical databases including over 24,000 titles that can support a wide range of student assignments. Some of these databases include Ebscohost, ARTstore, CRETO Reference and JSTOR.
- Class Handouts & Web Guides - As a part of the Library Instruction program, faculty may request librarians to create printed guides for their classes outlining useful resources.
- Faculty Reserves - Instructors may place the Library's or their own materials on reserve. These reserves are held at the Circulation Desk. The instructor will set a loan period and determine what materials stay in-house and what materials will be checked out. Copyright guidelines are also in place for placing materials on reserve.
- Interlibrary Loan - Instructors and students may use interlibrary loan services to request both books and articles.
- TexShare Card - Weatherford College participates in the TexShare a state funded program administered by the Texas State Library. The TexShare card allows instructors and students to check out materials from other participating libraries, providing direct access to needed materials that are not available at the home library.
Media/AV Support
- Media Resources - The library operates a media center that provides laptop computers, LCD projectors, digital cameras, camcorders, DVD players, overhead projectors, tape recorders, televisions and VCR's for individual classrooms. This center also provides lamination, scanning, digital photography, and other media support functions. Students wishing to arrange equipment for class presentations should work with their instructor to reserve equipment for them.
- Media Production - Assistance with media productions, such filming or video editing, is available in the media center.
Computer Support
- Public Computers - 36 computers are available in the public service area for academic use.
- Laptops - A number of both Mac and PC laptops are available for use in the library only.
- Wireless Access - Wireless access is available for faculty, staff and students only.
