General Notes about Library Support for Distance Education (DE) Courses Print E-mail

The Weatherford College Library offers access various support materials for Online classes.  Support materials include books from the general collections, E-books available online from NetLibrary, journal articles from a variety of online databases, and both books and articles through Interlibrary Loan.

Identifying Articles and Books

Online Students will need to identify which books and articles will best support their work.  This can be done through the Library’s webpage at http://library.wc.edu/

Books:           

    1.  Weatherford College Library Books can be located through the Online Catalog.           
    2.  Non Weatherford College Books can be located by searching the “Other Library
    Catalog” feature.  You can then request the book through the “Request a Book”
    feature on the Library’s webpage.

Articles:

    1.  Many full text articles can be located in the “Online Resources” section of the
    College Library webpage.  There are over 80 different databases available to all WC
    students, both on campus and off-campus.            

    2.  Full text articles not located using the available online databases can be obtained
    through Interlibrary Loan.  These articles will be sent to your home address via U.S.
    Mail.            

Receiving Books

Weatherford College Library Books will be sent via U.S. Mail to the user.  Non Weatherford College Library Books sent via Interlibrary Loan will also be sent via U.S. Mail to the user.  Due dates vary, but the normal checkout period is two weeks.

Receiving Articles

If the article you requested comes from Weatherford College, then a paper copy will be sent to you. If the journal article is supplied by another library, then it is possible that you may receive it as an electronic copy.  Otherwise is will be sent in paper form via U.S. Mail.

Establishing Remote Access

To access books through the Library catalog you only need to access the College Library’s website at:  http://library.wc.edu and click on “Online Catalog.”

To access articles through the Library’s online databases from home or off campus you will need to login to Online Resources (off campus) using remote access.

The login procedure requires you be set up with a library ID and Password.  This information is available on the Library’s webpage at http://library.wc.edu/.

Reference and Other Services

Can't find what you need?  Call for reference assistance from the Weatherford College Library Reference Desk at (817) 598 - 6425.  Staff can answer short, factual questions or provide guidance on research strategies and library resources.

Borrowing Books from other Texas Libraries

You can receive a TexShare Card to borrow books from many Texas academic, community college, and public libraries.  Who participates?

Weatherford College Library
